Host a resource table on a Friday

Many of the people who eat lunch at the Mission need exactly what your organization offers, but they don't have a phone, a car or internet to find you. On Fridays, during lunch, you can meet them face to face. It's free, and it's the easiest way to reach the people who need you most.

Who should host a table

Any organization that helps people, whatever its faith or none. Our guests ask most often about:

  • Food benefits (SNAP), Medicaid and other benefits
  • IDs, birth certificates and Social Security cards
  • Housing, rent help and shelter
  • Health clinics, dental and vision
  • Mental health and crisis care
  • Addiction treatment and recovery support
  • Jobs, job training and workforce programs
  • Legal help, court fines and re-entry
  • Veterans' services
  • Seniors and disability services
  • Domestic violence help
  • GED, reading and English classes
  • Phone and internet programs
  • Disability (SSI) applications
  • Transportation
  • Churches and groups offering practical help
How the day works
  1. Book a Friday with the form below. Fridays that already have a Resource Day planned are marked, and you're welcome to join one.
  2. We call to confirm your date and setup time, and tell you about anyone else coming that day.
  3. Set up before lunch at the Mission, 111 S. Texas St. (behind Jalisco's Restaurant). We provide a table and chairs. Ask us if you need power or a quieter spot for private conversations.
  4. Meet guests during lunch, 12:00-1:00. Our staff will point people your way and introduce you to guests who could use your help.
  5. Afterward, we'll check in to hear how it went, and we're glad to have you back.
What to bring
  • A table-top display or sign
  • Brochures and flyers in plain language
  • Spanish materials, if you have them
  • Business cards with a phone number people can call
  • Applications or sign-up forms, if you can take them on the spot
  • A laptop or tablet, if you can do applications right there
  • Useful small giveaways, if you like: socks, water, hygiene items

The best tables help people do something that day: start an application, book an appointment, or get a name and a direct number to call.

What we ask of you
  • Treat every guest with dignity. Our guests are our neighbors.
  • Collect personal information only with the guest's permission.
  • No sales, fees or sign-ups that cost guests money.
  • Keep the table about your services. Any provider is welcome, whatever its faith.
  • No photos of guests without their clear OK.
  • When a guest agrees, let us know how a referral turned out, so we can keep helping them.
Theme days we'd love to hold

Several organizations on the same Friday, around one need. If your group fits one, tell us below.

  • Benefits day: SNAP and Medicaid applications on the spot
  • ID and documents day: birth certificates, IDs, Social Security cards
  • Health day: screenings, vaccines, dental checks
  • Housing day: housing applications and assessments
  • Recovery day: treatment, recovery coaches, harm reduction
  • Legal and re-entry day: legal aid, record clearing, court fines
  • Veterans' day: VA, veteran service officers, gear
  • Community resource fair in the fall, with coats and blankets before winter
  • Tax help in tax season
