These are the same steps our staff use when they help someone. "They" means the person who needs help: you, or someone you are helping. Go in order, and call ahead when you can.
1Find out what is hard right now
You can ask"Are you on probation or parole? Is it state, county (misdemeanor), or federal?"
You can ask"What are your rules? Which one is hardest to keep right now?"
Look at their supervision papers together for the officer's name, report dates and conditions.
You can say"We want to help you finish strong. Let's take one rule at a time."
2Talk to the officer early
You can say"Officers would rather hear about a problem before it becomes a violation. Call them first."
