A couple is fighting and wants help (no violence)

Use when a couple argues a lot and wants help getting along, and no one is being hurt, threatened or controlled.

In danger right now: call 911. Crisis or thoughts of suicide: call or text 988. Not sure where to start? Call the Silver City Gospel Mission: 575-388-5071. Police, fire or sheriff, not an emergency: 575-388-8840 (Central Dispatch). Print our list of phone numbers →
These are the same steps our staff use when they help someone. "They" means the person who needs help: you, or someone you are helping. Go in order, and call ahead when you can.

1First, make sure no one is in danger

You can ask"Has your partner ever hit, pushed, choked or threatened you? Do you feel afraid at home?"
You can ask"Does your partner control your money, your phone or where you go?"
If yes, this is not just fighting. Use the guide "A woman (maybe with children) has no safe place or is leaving an abuser".

You can ask"What do you fight about most? Money, drinking, kids, jobs, where to live?"
