Disclaimer and terms of use

Help in Grant County is a free directory and set of help guides from the Silver City Gospel Mission. Please read this before you rely on it.

In an emergency, call 911. If you or someone else is thinking about suicide or is in a mental health crisis, call or text 988. Don't wait to read a guide.

General information only, not professional advice

The directory listings, Help Guides, phone list and every other page on this site are general information to help people find their way to help. They are not medical, mental health, legal, financial, tax, immigration or any other professional advice, and they don't replace it. Reading this site or talking with Mission staff or volunteers about it doesn't create a doctor-patient, lawyer-client, counselor-client or any other professional relationship.

Always ask a qualified professional about your own situation: a doctor, nurse, pharmacist, counselor, lawyer or the agency that runs a program.

First aid and safety steps

The emergency and first aid guides give basic steps that are widely taught to the public. They aren't training or certification, and they don't replace calling 911 or following what a 911 dispatcher, doctor or first responder tells you. Taking a first aid or CPR class is the best way to be ready.

New Mexico law offers some protection to people who help in an emergency:

These are short, plain summaries, not legal advice. Each law has limits and exceptions, and laws change. For your own situation, ask a lawyer or New Mexico Legal Aid.

Information can change: please call first

We work hard to keep this information correct. Staff and volunteers call organizations, check their websites and ask them to review their listings. But hours, phone numbers, addresses, rules, costs and services change, sometimes without notice, and mistakes happen. We provide everything here "as is," and we don't promise that it is complete, correct, current or right for you.

Please call before you go, and don't rely on this site alone for anything urgent or important. If you find something wrong, please tell us using the "Know a better way?" form on any guide, or call 575-388-5071.

Other organizations are responsible for their own services

Most places listed here are run by other organizations: government agencies, nonprofits, churches, clinics and businesses. They decide who qualifies and how they serve people, and they are responsible for their own services, staff, websites and actions. A listing, a guide step or a referral is not an endorsement, recommendation or guarantee, and leaving a place out doesn't mean anything bad about it. Some listing details come from the organizations themselves or from their public websites.

Links to other websites are offered for convenience. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for what they say or how they handle your information.

Translation

The Español button uses Google Translate, an automatic translation that may contain mistakes. The English version is the one we keep up to date. Phone numbers stay the same.

Volunteers

Many listings are checked by volunteers who call organizations from home. They do this in good faith and without pay. Under the federal Volunteer Protection Act of 1997 (42 U.S.C. §§ 14501-14505), volunteers for nonprofit organizations are generally protected from personal liability for harm caused by what they do within the scope of their volunteer work, unless it was willful, criminal, reckless or grossly negligent.
