These are the same steps our staff use when they help someone. "They" means the person who needs help: you, or someone you are helping. Go in order, and call ahead when you can.
1Check that they are safe
You can ask"Do you feel safe where you live?"
You can ask"Is anyone taking your money, hurting you, or not giving you care you need?"
You can ask"Can you eat, bathe and take your medicine on your own?"
If they are in danger now, call 911.
If an older or disabled adult is abused, neglected or exploited, call Adult Protective Services: 866-654-3219 (24 hours).
