1Signs it needs care today
Redness spreading out, red streaks, warmth, pus, a bad smell, fever or chills, or skin turning black: see a doctor today or go to the ER.
Any foot sore in someone with diabetes needs a doctor soon. Small sores can get serious fast.
Wash sores gently with soap and clean water every day. Keep them covered with a clean bandage.
Keep feet clean and dry. Change socks every day if you can. Wet socks cause blisters and foot rot.
Let feet air out at night. Shoes that fit and dry socks matter more than anything.
At the Gospel MissionShowers are at the Mission on weekdays, 9:30-11. Ask at the front desk for clean socks and a hygiene kit.
At the Gospel MissionThe Mission's clothing bank may have shoes and socks (once a month).
