Use when someone is working but struggling to keep the job: getting there on time, a hard boss or coworker, child care or rides falling through, or stress, drinking or drug use getting in the way.
In danger right now: call 911. Crisis or thoughts of suicide: call or text 988. Not sure where to start? Call the Silver City Gospel Mission: 575-388-5071. Police, fire or sheriff, not an emergency: 575-388-8840 (Central Dispatch). Print our list of phone numbers →
These are the same steps our staff use when they help someone. "They" means the person who needs help: you, or someone you are helping. Go in order, and call ahead when you can.
1What is getting in the way?
You can ask"What's making work hard right now?"
You can ask"Have you missed work or been late? Has your boss said anything?"
Listen. Most problems have a fix if they are handled early.
2Habits that keep a job
Show up on time, every shift. Have a backup plan for rides and child care.
Running late or sick? Call the boss before the shift starts. Don't just not show up.
Follow the phone and break rules. Ask questions when unsure.
Keep pay stubs and the work schedule in one place.
This guide is general information only, not medical, legal or other professional advice. Places and rules change, so please call before you go. In an emergency, call 911; in a mental health crisis, call or text 988. Disclaimer
