Wants to work at the mine, hospital or another big local employer
Use when someone wants a steady job with good pay at a big Grant County employer: the copper mines, the hospital and clinics, schools, the university or government.
In danger right now: call 911. Crisis or thoughts of suicide: call or text 988. Not sure where to start? Call the Silver City Gospel Mission: 575-388-5071. Police, fire or sheriff, not an emergency: 575-388-8840 (Central Dispatch). Print our list of phone numbers →
These are the same steps our staff use when they help someone. "They" means the person who needs help: you, or someone you are helping. Go in order, and call ahead when you can.
1Find out what they want and what they have
You can ask"Which place do you want to work, and what kind of job?"
You can ask"Do you have a high school diploma or GED, a driver's license, and an email address?"
You can say"Big employers hire all year. Many jobs start as trainee jobs."
2The copper mines
Freeport-McMoRan runs the Chino and Tyrone mines. They often post operator trainee jobs. Apply online.
