These are the same steps our staff use when they help someone. "They" means the person who needs help: you, or someone you are helping. Go in order, and call ahead when you can.
1Find out what they need
You can ask"Can you get to a store, or do you need food brought to you?"
You can ask"Do you have a phone or computer with internet, and an email address?"
You can say"In New Mexico you can use your EBT card online at some big stores. There is also free food delivery for some people."
2Order online with SNAP
Walmart (walmart.com or the Walmart app) and Amazon take SNAP EBT online in New Mexico. Albertsons has also offered EBT online in New Mexico. Check its app for the Silver City store.
Set up an account. Add the EBT card as a payment. They type the PIN on the store's secure payment page.
Pickup: order on Walmart and pick up at the Silver City store, 2501 Hwy 180 E. Check the app for pickup times and delivery to their address.
Only type the PIN on the real store website or app. Never give it in a text, call or email.
3Someone else can shop for them
You can ask"Is there someone you trust who can shop for you?"
SNAP lets a household name an authorized representative who can use the card to shop for them.
