These are the same steps our staff use when they help someone. "They" means the person who needs help: you, or someone you are helping. Go in order, and call ahead when you can.
1Check for an emergency first
Chest pain or pressure, pain in the arm, jaw or back, sudden shortness of breath, cold sweat or fainting: call 911 now. Don't drive them.

2Ask about their heart
You can ask"What did the doctor tell you about your heart? Do you have discharge papers?"
You can ask"Do you have your heart medicines? Are you taking them every day?"
You can ask"Do you have a follow-up visit set up?"
